How does the scrap gold calculator work?
It converts the selected weight into grams, divides the current XAU/USD spot reference by 31.1034768 to get a gram value, applies the selected karat factor, and converts the result into the chosen currency.
What weight should I enter for scrap gold?
Enter the measured weight of the gold portion. Stones, clasps, packaging, and other non-gold material should not be treated as pure gold weight unless they have been included intentionally and the result is understood as an upper-bound estimate.
Does this predict a scrap buyer's payout?
No. It estimates theoretical metal content at the stated spot reference. A scrap buyer can deduct testing, refining, shipping, operating costs, risk, and margin, and the item's verified fineness may differ from its stamp.
Which gold purities are supported?
The calculator supports 24K, 22K, 18K, 14K, 10K, and 9K theoretical factors. For an item with mixed karats, calculate each verified portion separately.
